Simple Sutra

The Story Behind the Sutra

For years, I have tried many crafts. I found my interests in the rhythms of sewing textiles, crafting delicate beadwork, restoring thrifted home decor, and filling blank traveler’s notebooks. I wondered how these fragments could coexist.

Travel journaling taught me that. So did junk journaling — the practice of building something layered and imperfect from scraps of everyday life. There is something in the act of choosing a paper, pressing a flower, and binding a small book by hand that forces you to be present. You cannot rush it.

In Sanskrit, a Sutra is a thread that binds things together. Simple Sutra is my creative thread. It is a philosophy that finds art in the everyday.

“Simple Sutra is my attempt to offer one slow afternoon to people moving too fast through a beautiful island.”

In a fast-moving world, this space was created as a gentle pause — a place where tea is shared slowly, journals are filled thoughtfully, and handmade moments become meaningful memories.

More than a workshop or tourist activity, Simple Sutra is an invitation to experience a softer rhythm of life. Every drawstring bag is stitched by me, every flower is locally pressed, and every experience is shared heart-to-heart. I welcome you to join me at my table.

Whether you book or come for free — you are welcome here.
